What is this?

I was replacing my air filter today on my 2003 Chevy S10 4x4 Crewcab and I noticed this hose attached to the upper fan shroud has a cap missing. I have seen it on before with a clamp. What does this hose go to? I cannot seem to find this part by searching online without knowing what it goes to. Can anyone let me know the function of this hose? Any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Looks like some sort of puke tube or air intake for PS, or similar. I agree, manual would help.

it is the vent for your front diff. they are suppose to have a special cap to prevent fluids from entering but still allow it to breath.
