5.7 vtec suburban coolant disaster/ please help
Feb 5 2014
I have coolant spraying out of my engine. The geyser is located directly behind my a/c compressor. It looks to be coming from two locations along where the intake and head meet. I am in no way knowledgeable in this field. I have already started to disassemble for repair but stopped with the a/c bracket. Please help. Thanks

Welcome to the forums.
If you lived closer and came over with some tortilla chips and brew I would help you.
Anyway.... that engine uses rubber gaskets between the intake manifold and the engine. Those rubber gaskets get hard and crack.
Not a terribly hard job but not a piece of cake either. Are you mechanically inclined ? Not an easy first time project.
The first thing you need to do is drain all the anti freeze out.
A key point is don't allow anything to fall down into the intake manifold or engine valley. The guy has a red rag stuffed in during early disassembly.
I was cruising around and found an interesting video (actually it's in two parts) on the Tube.
Check it out as the guy goes through the steps you'd need to do too.
