97 Dodge P.U. truck - running problems

My friend has a 1997 Dodge Puck up truck and runs good for a while and then just stops running wait a few minuets and it starts and runs great again. Have changed fuel pumps and had oil changed, Is it possible the air filter could be causing this. the shop did not change it? If not any suggestions Also put fuel additive in and run it. It is a V8

Not sure if it's an injected engine but the best place to start is to check/monitor the fuel pressure. I doubt the air cleaner would cause that problem.

I know yours is a V8, but my Cummins will have starting hiccups if I don't keep a clean filter in it. Normally will start with a bump. If it goes for more than 3 revolutions, I know it's the filter. It's a good idea to check and change the filter. It isn't a K&N is it?

The fuel filter was changed too, right? Like PJ said, you need to check the fuel pressure. It's also possible it's an electrical issue.
