'93 Chevy 1500 Knocking noise?
So I have this 1993 Chevy 1500 automatic V6 2wd with 164xxx miles that started making a knocking noise. It comes and goes but knocks at idle and increases when I press on the gas? Could that be the connecting rod, bearings, or a piston slap? I've heard that you could use 3 quarts on Havoline oil and some STP with high grade gas and it could do the trick, need a second opinion. Don't want to buy a whole new engine, lol.

Automatic? Check for cracked flywheel.
Check pulley bolts on harmonic balancer.
And, Yes it could be internal damage. Main bearings on crank giving way or a spun rod bearing, cracked piston, bad wrist pin, etc.
