2004 ford ranger

how do i check the front end of my ford ranger?....i want to check the upper and lower ball joints and the inner and outer tie-rod ends.....thanks

1. tie rod ends: suspend both front wheels up in the air and rock each side back for with hands on 3 and 9. Play present indicates tie rod end problem.
2. tie rod. remove and roll on piece of glass. If it bounces - it's bent.
3. ball joints are sort of hard to explain. Suspend a side. Remove wheel for ease of access. Take a flat pry bar and jam it between control arm and hub, close to ball joint stud. Move pry bar up-down. If there is displacement between CA and hub, BL needs to be serviced. Same principle applies to upper BJ. You want to try to separate CA from hub.
