1989 Ford P/U

I have replaced 5 alternators and two batteries in my 1989 Ford P/U. Shop keeps telling me rebuilt alternaters are the problem. They say wring is OK. With this many alternaters, they can't all be bad. Any suggestions?

Anyone done a diagnostic test on the charging system or are you just replacing parts and hoping for the best?
Who's saying the wirings OK?
My old 89 had an issue that would happen every few months.
Loosen up the bolts on the starter lifted it up, tighten up the bolts and it would be fine for a few months.
I tried Loc-tite to the bolts, adding shims, nothing worked.

Welcome to the forums Patrick!

How long are the alternators lasting? did you or the shop install them? have they been under warranty? How is the truck used? driven often or is it parked for extended periods?
Often you can pay more for a new alternator but I wouldn't bet on that being the problem.
