1993 GMC Jimmy problem

I have a 93 gmc jimmy 150k 4.3L v6 W code.. Driving on the interstate today with cruise on set at 75. 20 minutes into driving the truck starts to stumble and backfire. I lost all acceleration and only could drive 65. I got to where I was going and let the truck rest for 1/2 hr. On the way back, again at 20 minutes began to do the same. Loss of acceleration. It stumbled and backfired when trying to give it gas. What comes to mind is catalytic converter, fuel pump, egr, or central port fi.. city driving is great, starts great, runs great, but does smoke a little at start up. Recently changed oil, replaced plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Any ideas??

Welcome to the forums.

I'm guessing no check engine light ?

That usually points to a fuel problem.
Have you changed the fuel filter recently..... if not it might be a place to start.

First , I would replace the fuel filter .

Next , try to replace the fuel pump .

How does it run at 60 mph ?

Older fuel systems do not seem to like the ethanol in our " modern " gasoline .

Just as a shot in the dark , try some Staybil or Seafoam in the gas .

I am guessing this is a throttle body system ? I also wonder about the fule pressure regulator on the TB .

God bless
Wyr
