abs problem

I have a 1998 expedition 4wd ,4.6 xlt. I had a couple of parts stores scan the system and one found left front wheel sensor bad. The other found the same +hydraulic pump motor connection fault. Are the two related? Also I have seen conflicting U Tube videos on how to check the sensor using a multy meter. Can you clarify please? Thanks

Have you cleaned it?

Or checked the Reluctor Ring for a build-up of mud or rust ?

I think you can usually remove the Wheel & Tire, then the Sensor (and clean it) with one bolt/screw, and peer into the hole and slowly rotate the Rotor to see if the teeth are clean (and that there are no cracks between them.

Just 2 from a backyard mechanic.
