2003 chevy S-10 4.3L V-6 chirping

Hello again, My S-10 has recently started chirping from the engine on an intermittent basis. I have 104,000 miles on it and this noise comes and goes as I am driving down the road. thought maybe it was the belt but the old soap trick didn't work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Fritoguy15

I have a 1996 s 10.. Chirping would be the pully/tensioner... a/c bearing... alt bearings.

I've only been using the defrost occasionally, but the noise comes whether that is on or not. If it is the pulley tension, any idea how that would be fixed? as far as the alt. goes I feel that is okay, but you never know.

also that one pully at the top left that the belt just rides on usually is the culprit... Thats the first one that went bad on me..

With the belt off, check the water pump for play. I recently had an odd intermittent chirp that turned out to be my water pump.

I ended up replacing the idler pulley and the belt and no more noise. Thanks, Fritoguy15.
