Trailer towing

I have a question about towing receiver for 2008 ford f150 crew cab.The enclosed cargo trailer I am towing weighs 1350# empty with equipment probably 2200#.The ball receiver I put in factory receiver on truck sticks out about 8 " to center of ball and 9 1x2" to end. When I make sharp turns bumper hits front of trailer. What is something I can do that is safe to extend the ball receiver so I can get about 6" more length. Thanks for any help.

You can get extra long heavy duty tow bars to fit the receiver.
eTrailer is a first class place to check and deal with.

Heavy Duty Extra Long Ballmount 10,000 lbs - 2" Drop, 3/4" Rise

Just note that using an extended mount increases the load on your hitch receiver and might hurt how well the trailer tows. Hopefully it won't be an issue with such a light load. Unfortunately it's the only option short of the proper fix which is a different trailer.

I agree.
The real problem is a poorly designed trailer with too short of a tongue.

As said, you can get an extended hitch but it greatly reduces your hitches capacity.
A shop that specializes in hitches may be able to extend your trailer tongue for a reasonable cost.

That was my thought as well - extending or replacing the tongue on the trailer.
