Voltage Meter Reading

using my Sperry 350 meter to get a reading on my trailer battery and got a number of about 19.20. Tried it on my car battery and got one around 19.65. What am I doing wrong to get these readings instead of around the 12.6 reading I should be seeing? Do I need to unhook the battery terminals? Could a bad battery in the meter be causing this?

Welcome to the forums.

Are you using a DC setting ? Use the 20vDC position. Use COM and V ports.

Yep. Exactly what I’m using. Going to put in a new 9v and see if that does anything.

Apparently the battery in meter was the issue. Working correctly now. Now to see how my new solar panel setup does for charging the rv battery.

Most but not all meters will show low battery on display when the battery csan no longer provide a correct reading.
