When & what about regular transmission service E250?

I have a Ford Econoline E-250 that was made into a conversion van. I now have about 82K miles on it and I am wondering if I should go ahead and have the transmission serviced? If so what should I have done and what should I look out for that a mechanic might want to do but really doesn't need to be done?
Thanks

I'd replace the fluid and filter. I'm leery of those flush jobs as it might dislodge crud and leave it in the system or introduce crud from previous flush jobs.

would also just drop the pan and change the filter would also drain the torque convertor if it has a drain plug, if it does not have a drain plug and you wish to exchange most all the fluid a drain and fill machine could be used about 2/3 of the fluid is in the torque convertor.
