every couple of weeks, my washer line overflows. i've noticed that it only seems to do it if i have the water setting to high, as in a large load. it's fine on medium and small. i've had the line snaked twice, and still have the problem. the house is about 30 years old. i just moved in 2 years ago, this started about 8-9 months ago. i know that a washer expels a large amount of water in a short time, and that if the diameter of the pipe is too small, that would account for the backup. i'm guess that it'd be a pain, and expensive, to put in a larger diameter pipe. i also have the water softener draining into this drain. could that be a problem? thanks, mitch.

Hi! I have noticed lately that whenever we use the sink or flush the toilet in our hall bathroom, the water drains very loudly thorugh the walls. It actually always sounds like the water is draining through the bathtub drain, but I can't figure out why. I don't see any water stains anywhere and no water bubbles up from the bathtub drain, so I'm confused. This wasn't happening before. I know the sink drain is not clogged. Is there any other place to check to see if something is wrong? thanks a lot! Colleen
