leaky faucet

the faucet in my shower seems to be leaking hot water. it is a single head faucet both the hot and cold water come out it. i took the hot / cold dial off and can' t seem to figure out what to do next. do i need to cut the pipe or does the rest of the fixture come off if i just pull on it. any ways any help would be great i think its only a washer or something i need to replace.

Cool

Turn the water off before you go any further.
Sounds like you may have a cartridge type faucet.
There may be a retaining clip to remove before pulling the cartridge out to replace it. Take it to the store, get one exactly like it, and re-install it.
Good LucK!
