toilet problems

Living in an old house with Standard Devoro toilets, it flushes and continues without stopping. The only way to stop it is to turn the screw, which leaks slightly at times. I don't want to end up stripping the screw with constant use and don't want to keep this procedure up. What can/should I do?

Yes, that's it. And, I have to unscrew the knob on the right's cover and turn the screw inside to make to toilet stop flushing. Also now it's sort of stopping with each flush (after adjusting the screw), but now it's leaking alittle more from the screw.

The top of the valve where you see the large nut unscrews, turn the water off 1st, you need to get a Sloan Valve Diaphram Kit like this one, will probably come assemblied, make sure the plastic in this kit is white in color, and not black, black is for uriinals and white is for toilets, these are easy to replace, its getting the cover off the top can be hard at times, but it does remove.

Below the 1st cover you will see a 2nd cover, remove it, now pull out the diapharm and install the new one, replace the cover and tighten up that top cover, turn water on and see if that solves the problem, if the shut off still leaks, then thats another problem, if you can get to where it does not leak, great, if you can't let us know.
