sink won't hold water

Hello.

After installing a new pedestal sink in my bathroom, I noticed that water was slowly seeping out of it after I had lowered the drain plug. The parts are new, and I was sure to put an ample amount of plumber's putty around the bottom portion of the drain flange (the surface that would contact the porcelain drain opening). Any ideas on how I can correct this problem? Thanks.

Cool

You probably have a pop-up drain assembly like this:

If the water is seeping out of the sink into the drain (and not leaking out), the pop-up assembly is adjustable.
See the bolt and rod assembly on the left?
That's where you adjust the stopper to close completely when lifting the rod.
Good luck!
Mike
