Question Ice Maker stopped working

Hi,
We moved into this house about 3 months ago and up until 1-1/2 months ago the ice maker in the fridge was working great. But all of a sudden it stopped working -once in a while - and I mean it's rare -we may get ONE ROW of ice cubes (every 4 weeks or so).
The repairman was just out for an estimate - he said we need a new water valve and that for the water valve and installation it would cost about $160.00 ($67 water valve, $85 installation, tax etc).

This seems high to me? Is this something I could do myself or would it even be just as easy to get a whole new ice maker?

Thanks for your help.

Cool

You can get a brand new ice maker and install it yourself (easy) for far less than that.
Good luck!

Jim Locigno:
Some of the older water valves are able to be taken apart and if so may just need a cleaning.
If you replace the ice maker be sure a new water valve is included as some kits don't.
