Want to install new toilet

Hello all:

My current toilet has 4 bolts holding it down at the base. I want to install a new, modern toilet. The measurements I took with my current toilet is 14.25 inches from back wall to center of bolt/nut closest to wall. If a buy a new toilet that comes only with holes for 2 bolt/nut(s) holding it down and the wall to bolt/nut measures 12 inches, will this work? Also, what brand(s) out there are reliable, not too expensive, and saves water. My budget can go up to $200.00. Thanks in advanced for any replies.

12" is the regular rough-in distance for the toilet. The new toilet will work as long as you have a min of 24" clearence (UPC) in front of the toilet after installation. you will have 2-3" space in back of the toilet after installation. Your only other options are to move the toilet flange or get a 14" rough toilet (which usually cost more). Toto makes a good reasonably priced toilet for under $200.
