Washing Machine Woes

Is there a standard for the 'hot and cold' pipes on a washing machine?

The reason I ask is the connectors are not coloured, and I don't have an instruction manual for my washing machine.

Or is there perhaps another easy way to find out what is what?

Cold water line should always be on right side, hot on left. This is facing the unit or the wall the outlets are on. It's a code thing.

Reality time, could be anything because you can't believe what "plumbers" put in at times. Just feel the pipe and ask yourself, is this warm to the touch....

The pipes that come from the back of the washing machine, it's not plumbed in yet.

I'm not sure which hose/pipe needs to go onto the pipes on the wall.

There are 2 male thread fittings on the back of the washer. Standing in front of the unit, the male fitting on the right side, as you look at it, is the cold water hookup. The other male fitting is hot water.

You need to buy 2 washer machine hoses for this connection to you water lines.

If you are putting in a new installation for the washing machine, look at the Watt's line of washer hookups. There is an automatic valve that shuts water off to the washer when the machine is off. You don't have to worry about a hose breaking and the ensueing flood. Just an idea...
