I have polybutylene and the fittings are starting to leak. Don't need to know about the lawsuit(s).
1) I am leaning towards replacing entire plumbing but will need to temporarily bridge between polyB/cpvc (hot) and polyB/pvc (cold). I have seen what I describe as "threaded twist tightening" cpvc and pvc compression?/dressler? fittings. Will these work? (Is a compression fitting the same as a dressler fitting?
2) Do I actually need to replace the polyB tubing or can I just change all the fittings? If I change the fittings from acetial(sp) or metal with crimps what do I change to? Are flare-it or PEX fittings OK? Or will the cpvc cpmpression/dressler fittings better. Will any of these actually work with polyB?
Thanks for any input or war stories about replacing polyB FITTINGS!Read More
Following up on my recent post (thanks for all the good replies) I still don't understand the difference between "service weight" cast versus standard cast.
I'm not sure which one I have in my basement floor sewer line or if one requires a special Misson/Ferco fitting/adaptor to connect to no-hub cast (I'm cutting the pipe and inserting a wye). Can an MG fitting be used to connect no-hub to either of these or would a slight difference in outside diameter cause a problem for an MG fitting?
Thanks in advance!
