Question Water pressure

Within the last week the water pressure in my house has increased dramatically. I have no idea why.

There is a pressure gauge on my incoming main which reads about 125. I suspect that is far to high but I don't know what normal is.

The only work done related to the water supply in my house recently was a faulty sprinkler head that would not shut off which I had fixed. The repair was done entirely outdoors and downstream from my incoming water main.

Any thoughts on what could have happened? What I should do? Is this a job for a professional?

Thanks,

Dave

either the city has increased the water pressure (assuming you are on city water) or you pressure reducing valve has gone out (most likely) You need to replace the pressure reducing valve.
