Testing water pressure

How can you test the water pressure in the house? I'm concerned that I may have too much and may need a regulator. What are the numbers the pressure should be between?

Thanks,

Cool

You can get a water pressure gauge at most hardware stores that just attaches to any hose bibb.

Here is what it looks like.

If the pressure is 80 or above you need a regulator.

Thanks, I will pick up a guage. If I need a regulator, what is the average cost and is it a DIY job or do I need a plumber to do the work?

Thanks!

Average cost for a PRV valve is about $50 at Home Depot.

You can do it yourself, if you have basic knowledge on how to put pipes together.
