Waste pipe leak in cellar.

Waste pipe leak in cellar.

I have small leak coming throuh the ceiling at the waste
pipe entrance to the cellar. I can't see where the leak is
coming from. I changed the toilet wax seal in the upstairs
toilet but this did not work.

The leak is intermitant. Repeatedly flushing the toilet,
or running the water in the sink or shower doesn't always
cause the leak.

I don't want to start tearing out the drywall without knowing
where the leak is.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

Sometimes you just have to take a wild guess, if you elimate where you thought it was comming from, then it's time to make some choices.

Unfortunately if you can't pinpoint the leak, it may be time to cut the drywall... it will eventually come down on its own if it is collecting too much water in it... and frankly it is easier to patch a small piece of drywall than it was to reset the toilet....
