Whirlpool question?

We have a large whirlpool bathtub, I don't know the brand because it was there when we moved in. The problem is that since we don't use the jets hardly at all, water collects in the surrounding pipes when you drain the water. Is the water supposed to drain out of the pipes (tubing) somehow. It's really obvious when you go to take a bath and then the water gets a nasty smell from the old bath water that gets flushed into the new water. I hope I'm making sense.

thanks in advance

You need to run the jets once in awhile, you also should fill tub up and run bleech through the jets on a biweekly or monthly bases, this will help keep the passage ways clean, scum builts up in the passage ways of the jets, and needs to be maintained, and flushed clean.

Plumber2K is right, and they also make a special chemical designed to be used on whirpool tubs... It can be bought at HD around here and some pool supply companies have it also... I want to say it is some type of bromine salt? something along those lines....
