Sump Pit

I am installing a sump pit in another area of my basement and was wondering how many holes need to be drilled in the liner. I was recently told that, outside of the 4" pipes running to the liner, I should have holes in the bottom of the liner also. Any suggestions. Thanks

This is one of those generic answers...

Several hole, not over an inch or so. The sump pit can act like a boat and float up when exposed to a high water table.
Large, but not humugous hole will allow water in from the bottom.
Small holes, say 1/4 inch -1/2 inch could clog up over several years of dirt, sand, and junk dumping into the pit.

Hope this helps....
