Angry sump pump

I just recently had a over head sumppump in stalled in my basement,I noticed that from the pump in the floor the 2" pvc piping goes straight up into the 8" mounted under the pipe. shouldn't this 2" pipe be mounted on top of the 8" to prevent blockage from the 2"pipe? ( a check valve is intalled on the 2" pipe)

Cool

I'm not a pro plumber, but I agree with you. Seems like it should be looped into the top side of the main.

Well, code here says that it should be above the center line of the main... so it doesn't necessarily have to be on top but could come in the side just above center... (the wye would be grading down slightly, prevent backwash from the main...)... It definitely should not tie directly into the bottom of the main line as solids in the main line could flow down the pipe and sit against the check valve... I don't think you have a major problem however... It just could have been done a little better...
