Bathroom sink hot water pressure slows to trickle

Three months ago, when my bathroom sink hot water faucet slowed to a trickle, I assumed the pipe in my eighty year old house was corroded closed and called the plumber. Instead of replacing it, he opend the other bathroom taps, went to the hot water heater, did a "back wash" (?) and I had gushing hot water again. Alas my hot water faucet has slowed to a trickle once more. What's my problem and how do I cure it? Thanks for your always brilliant answers!

Well, if you had a plumber that knew how to back flush a hot water system, then he was probably a truly old school, good plumber... However, back flushing usually clears out some trash but doesn't solve the ultimate problem of having very corroded galvanized pipes... They need to be replaced as you are able...
