Red face plumbing for slab house

In the process of fixing bathtub drain, discovered plumbing (copper) corroded and a rootball of some sort around the drain (probably not a good sign). Since the house is built on a cement slab, how can the plumbing be repaired? Or do I sell the first-born now? I think I'm beyond my capabilities.

Well, if you really feel like you are beyond your capabilities, then calling a plumber might be a good thing to do... Just make sure to get info from atleast 2 plumbers to get a feel for what really needs to be done...
