venting

On an existing 2" vent line can an automatic vent be installed at the end or must it be attached to 1 1/4" vent riser? My problem is that the 2" vent vents for a washing machine, but the previous owner of the house was venting to the ceiling space. The 2" vent in question is at the front of the house, the main riser is toward the back with a space difference of 20 feet. Is there any alternatives?

Technically, you can't vent a washing machine (or any other type of pump) with an autovent... If the vent ever malfunctions, you can create a major problem... Look for another way to vent the washing machine... Why are you changing it by the way? Why can't you get it on out the roof, or up to the attic to tie on to an existing vent?
