Gas or Electric Hot Water Heater???

We are remodeling and could put in a gas or an electric hot water heater. The old thought is that the gas heater recovers quicker and is cheaper (utility costs) than an electric heater. Is this still true or are the newer electric water heaters as good as the gas ones now??

Thanks....

Electric water heaters are getting better every year and gas prices are rising, but at this point, gas in my area is still far cheaper, and the recovery is definitely still better with a gas... If you really want to be prepared however, just put in a gas heater, AND leave a dedicated 220 circuit close to the heater location for future changeover if the circumstances change... It would be far easier and cheaper to get the connection there now than later...

What kind of heat are you putting in?If it is forced hot water then look into an indirect fired water heater.Click the link for more info........Indirect Water Heaters
