Question wood baseboard in bathrooj

Am replacing cove molding in bathroom and hate the limited color choices. Have seen wood baseboard in new houses in kitchens and baths... any ideas on putting some sort of sealer around/under the wood (silicon???) to keep water damage down? And how would this be done most effectively? Any ideas most appreciated!

Install the baseboard and shoe molding as usual, paint, and enjoy. Unless there is an unusual amount of water spilled on the floor and left, wood baseboards should do fine without the need for any protection other than paint.

Hope This helps.
