Standing water on patio

This is the problem: My husband and I live in an older home that has a concrete patio. There is a drain in the center of the patio, however, I cannot determine where the water drains to. Generally, after a short heavy rain, the drain backs up and we have standing water in the center of our patio. What, if anything short of breaking up the concrete and installing new drain and concrete, can we do to solve this problem? I have considered possibly installing a sump pump, but do not know if that would be appropriate for this situation. Please help!!!

Debris, dirt and possibly roots have probably clogged the drain line over time.
There are water hose bladders in various sizes that you can get that will expand to block the drainpipe and flush the line with water pressure that you can try.
You also might rent an electric drain cleaning machine to see if that can't clear it.
I would try to clear the drain line in some way, even if you have to hire a pro drain cleaning company, before I would tear up concrete (far more expensive).
Good Luck!

more than likely the drain connects to your condesor pipes which also ties in your downspout and takes it to the curb.but it is possible it could tie into you basement perimeter drain wich takes the water to your sump some inspecting and see if you can find out for sure where it goes, you cant fix it if you dont know what to fix.
