Unhappy Shower faucet leak

I have a two handled Delta faucet in my bathtub/ shower and the hot water leaks ,I have already replaced the stem unit that goes over the incoming pipe and it still leaks. I noticed that around the incoming pipe there is a rubber ring washer that looks warn but I was wary about pulling it out and replacing it for fear that it would loosen the incoming water pipe. my question is can I pull out that ring washer and replace it, it looks as if it's just a seat washer that when the stem is turned a metal plate on the base of the stem rotates over this ring washer and seals the line.

Cool

That's an o-ring, and yes, you should replace it.
You can find your faucet here, for more info:

Good Luck!
