Unhappy clogged in sink erator

The clog is not in the drain pipes, I checked. Do I need to check that line, it appears to be some sort of air valve, that leads to the disposal or do I take the disposal off and somehow clean out the inside of it?

appreciate ya in advance

small addendum

this is subsequent to chewing a bunch of fiberous plant stems so its clogged and now it doesnt appear to be linked to the hose leading to the air drain or whatever it is called. Any other possibilities?

thanks

Cool

Try running some ice through the disposal to see if that won't help it clear itself of the fiberous material.
Then flush it good.
Good Luck!

tried ice

and no go, seems to suck water out of the drain back into the sink. neither pipe is obstructed but I dont know if it is the air inlet causing the problem as it was lowered when the new faucet was installed. Wasnt a problem before but now its got stuff in it, the drain I mean. Another option? thanks

The air gap is for the dishwasher and just incidentally hooks to the disposal and has nothing to do with the disposal drainage... The fibrous material is likely in the "tee" portion of the piping under the sink... It usually finds its way to the baffle, and can't get any farther... Take the pipe loose from the dishwasher and the other strainer and clean the pipes out...
