Cool

You can snake the tub drain with a flexible crank-handle plumber's snake, or you can clear it with a non-caustic enzyme-based drain cleaner like DrainCare. Just follow the directions on the jug.
Do NOT use a caustic drain cleaner such as Drano. The enzyme-based cleaner..DrainCare... won't harm your tub or drain.
Or, you also might try using a piece of stranded metal cable with the strands bent into little hooks on one end with needle-nose pliers.
The little hooks will snag hair and other gunk, so that you can pull it out.
Good Luck!

As the husband of a "long haired" wife I am constantly having to unclog the tub drain! I've found that usually its hair that has gotten caught on the cross-bars of the drain (if you have a "toe drain", one that you have to reach down and pick up by hand) or on the pivot bar, if you have a lever operated type.

On the first you can remove the stopper usually by dropping it about 1/4" and unscrewing it then take a dental type hook or a set of forceps (both I've picked up in the "bargan bins" of the local Ace hardware stores) to pull the hair out without removing the drain.

With the "lever" type the stopper will usually come right out. Many times with the clog still attached. If not, one of those cheapy drain snakes will usually snag it and pull it right out!

Either way it's YUCH!!! lol
