Question Blue Max pipes

Does anyone know much about Blue Max pipes that were used in the midwest for water line connections from the main water source to the house about 20 years ago? My neighbor has a water leak somewhere between the main and his house. It will cost him $2600 to replace the pipes. His plumber is recommending that we replace ours 'while they are at it' even though we don't have a problem. Our cost will be $1100, since the neighbor is paying for the excavation. I have heard that Blue Max pipes are terrible and it's just a matter of time before our break as well. Any suggestions or knowledge of these pipes?

thanks!

They are generally known to be crap. There was a 10 year warranty, but yours is obviously out of warranty now. I would seriously consider replacing it.

I would also seriously consider paying $1850 if you want to continue having a good neighbor... ....
