unusual toilet seat
I need to replace a toilet seat for a 15-yr-old American Standard "galleria" model toilet. The seat is about 17 inches long and the mouting bolts at the back of the seat are 12 inches on center. Looks like most modern toilet seats are 6 inches on center. Does anyone know where to find 12-inch ones?

seats for the galleria were made by church. when american standard discontinued the galleria, american standard refused to let church continue them in their line with a standard plastic - apparently whatever they *are* isnt standard. and a/s refused to make a "last run" purchase, so they have disappeared. i believe that "New york supply" has a bunch of them in white, which does me no good... maybe a bunch of google searches (model 5350, i think) would help you find them. btw, what flapper valve are you using - i find that the flap does not stay up unless you hold the button down for a few seconds.. it works better if the chain attaches to the flapper as close as possible to the hinge, to maximize the leverage between lever and flap.
