Question water line to refrigerator

I got a new refrig and did not get an ice-maker as I drink bottles water. I need to close off the copper line behind the fridge so I can turn back on the cold water. The delivery guy gave me a new fitting & I purchased a "cap" from home depot. How do I get the little flange on the pipe after I cut off the old fitting? Or is there an easier way?

If you have an existing brass nut and brass ferrule ring on the copper tubing, you should be able to get a fitting and cap that will all make up tightly together.
If the cap is not brass (galvanized), you need to use teflon tape on the male threads under the cap.
Use a small backup wrench on the fitting while tightening with another.
Also, there should be a cut-off valve on the other end of that copper tubing, either a regular valve or a saddle valve on a pipe that you can close.
Good Luck!
