Stinky Grease Trap

I installed a grease trap in my store and every time we run the water it stinks up the room. I've cleaned out the trap several times but the smell still persists. Is there anything I can do to get rid of the smell from coming up through the drains?

Cool

Install a drain line trap before the grease trap. It should serve the same purpose (normally used to prevent sewer gas odor from getting back in).
Good luck!

Check two things:

1) the baffles inside the trap are in their proper location, and the gaskets are in place.

2) you should have a vent that ties in before the trap, run water and smell if the odor is coming from this vent. These are usually a 1/2" or 3/4" copper line that just ends above the flood level of the grease trap and fixtures it serves.
