Question Pressure Tank

Every time the water is turned on, it pulsates out of the faucet. The 30/50 pressure switch also clicks continually when the water runs which I believe means that the well pump is going on/off/on..etc Pressure gauge reads 40 psi when water is not running but when water is called for, the gauge rocks back and forth wildly. I know this is not normal. PLease help !

Pressure tank

It sounds like your pressure tank is waterlogged. If you have the galvanized steel type, it is probably waterlogged. Turn off the pump, open a faucet nearby and drain the tank. Remove a pipe plug or fitting and allow air to enter the tank. Replace the plug and restart the pump.
If you have a bladder type tank, ythere is a good chance the bladder is bad. Depress the valve core in the air valve on top of the tank. If water comes out, the bladder is bad and the tank will need to be replaced.
The correct precharge for a bladder tank is 2 psi less than the cutin pressure. In other words, if the pump kicks on at 30 psi, the tank needs a precharge of 28 psi.
