Question Gas Water Heater

I bought a house a few months ago. It has a gas water heater. The thing makes a lot of noise when I use the water. Sometimes I think it is go to bust out of the wall. It is in the kitchen. I have read a little about them, but there is never a mention about noise. Is this normal?

Cool

Usually such noise in a water heater is caused by sediment buildup in the bottom of the tank.
Attach a water hose to the drain spigot at the bottom of the heater and flush the tank until the water hose runs clear.
Good Luck!

I am not an expert or anything, but I just had a similar
problem. The heater would make alot of noise when
the water was first run for about 10 seconds. I tried
flushing the tank, still made the noises. Turns out it needed
an expansion tank. A single older lady lived there before
us. Either she ignored the problem, or never used enough
hot water for the gas to run for long periods of time.
