Water Odor

FOR THE PAST SEVERAL WEEKS OUR HOT WATER HAS DEVELOED A SULPHUOUS ODOR AFTER RUNNING A MINUTE OR TWO. A FRIEND SAID THAT SOME WATER HEATERS THAT HAVE "RODS" THAT CAN BE MODIFIED OR REMOVED TO HELP THIS PROBLEM. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFORMATION RELATED TO THIS?

Cool

It may be a reaction with your water heater anode rod, which can be replaced with another type (do a Search above on them), or it may be caused by foul-smelling, but harmless bacteria build-up if you're on well water.
Do NOT remove the anode rod without replacing it. It protects your water heater from electrolysis corrosion which can greatly shorten the life of the water heater.
Good Luck!
Mike
