We moved into this house almost a year ago. The bathroom floor slopes so that any water that gets on the floor pools around the base of the toilet. Until a few months ago, when the water pooled around the base of the toilet (we have 3 young kids, so, while complete prevention would have been ideal, it's not practical), it would turn a brownish color (I assume from coming into contact with the wax seal), but there was no odor. About 3 months ago, the smell started. It smells like a fast-food restaurant bathroom, so obviously, it is not clean water that is leaking. After putting powder on the floor, it appears that it is dripping from the bolts that connect the tank to the bowl. There also appears to be a tiny leak from the supply line, and possibly a very slight leak around the base. Overall, the amount of water leaking is small, but the smell is horrendous. It smells like someone urinated on the floor, and I already interrogated the kids, so that isn't it. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hey guys, I've flushed my 4-year old gas water heater twice and still have a little rumble when it's heating...no big deal. What I don't understand is a loud, but brief, whooshing type noise anytime a faucet is turned on or a toilet is flushed. Any suggestions? Sometimes it also makes very faint high pitched whistling noises, almost like a whistling tea pot. No leaks though (that I can see or feel). I'm thinking that there is air trapped somewhere in the system. Thanks.
