Question Sediment Filter Cartridges Clog Very Quickly

The water in my community contains a great
deal of sediment. Most of the sediment is
calcium with occasional bursts of rust.

I installed two filter canisters in parallel,
hoping that by doubling the filter capacity
I would have a better chance of reducing the
sediment pouring through all the coppper tubing
in my home.

These filters are the standard cylindrical
sediment and rust filter cartridges that are
sold in all the home centers.

Instead of lasting for several months, they clog
up in two weeks, if I'm lucky!

I know that there are various types of sediment
traps and screening filters that are mainly used
for industrial applications. I've visited factories
over the years that had large sediment traps
with clean-out plugs or valves that would allow
most of the heavier sediments to settle out
and be removed.

Is there some type of easy to clean trap that
could be placed before the sediment filters,
so that they wouldn't be overwhelmed by the
volume of sediment in the water entering my
home?

Complain to the water source. This is not normal and I would also test the water and find out what you are drinking.
