Tape or dope?

Having leakage on 3/4" galvanized fittings using teflon tape, probably since it's necessary to have 90 degree fittings in a certain postion so I can't just tighten to the max. Should I use pipe dope instead? Should I have deburred the fittings? Maybe to tight? Thanks, Mike McCarver

Cool

Galvanized fittings need to be as tight as possible or they will leak. They shouold be de-burred, and cannot be cross-threaded.
Wrap 2-4 flat wraps of teflon tape clockwise only as the end of the male threaded pipe or fitting faces you, and it should not leak.
You can use either tape of pipe dope, but it still needs to be as straight and tight as possible.
Good Luck!
