leaking marks on basement ceiling, help

leaking marks on basement ceiling, help

I see leaking marks on basement ceiling, (not finished),
seems there is no pipe above, only see wood beams.
not quite sure what cause it.

above marks, I think it's a wall between kichten and living room,
there is a vent for furnace.

Cool

It could be a leak from a water supply pipe, a drain line, or condensation forming on the outside of a HVAC duct.
Water can run along a beam or floor joist and drip down many feet from a leak or condensation drip.
You'll just have to examine it more closely to determine where it's coming from.
If it's condensation (which is what it sound like), you can insulate the duct.
If it's a leak, you can repair it.
