tub waste trim from chrome to brass?

I have a 15 year old tub which has a chrome finish Watco bathtub waste and overflow setup. We wish to change it from chrome to brass. Is this an easy fix? It would be the toggle plate and the
round drain piece.

Cool

Yes, both are easy to change.
The toggle plated is just held on by two bolts.
The drain can be unscrewed counter-clockwise, new putty can be put around the drain hole, and the new one can be screwed down onto the putty.
Good Luck!

thanks for the info
I believe the drain strainer has a screw in the middle.
I will have to look at it after work today.
If not I will try to unscew thw strainer to see if it will move.

Cool

The drain strainer will have a screw in the middle, but that only holds the strainer onto the drain.
The drain should have four crosspieces down in it.
Heat the old putty with a hair dryer to loosen it.
There is a drain tool, but you can use the handles of a pair of channel-locks with a screwdriver in the teeth for leverage to turn it out.
Clean the old putty off, and roll a roll of new putty about the size of a pencil and wrap it around the depression around the drain hole, and tighten the new drain down on it. Wipe away the excess putty.
There is a rubber washer at the overflow on the outside of the tub, so make sure that it stays in place when you exchange the toggle plates.
Should be good to go.
Good Luck!

I looked at the Watco homepage and my setup.
I don't think it is a Watco. The one I have is chromed brass and the toggle does not lay flat on the overflow plate. It sticks out at about a 30 degree angle down when disengaged and a up 30 degree angle when engaged. I did not see a brade name anywhere on the plate. The strainer part completely covers the drain ell. It is held on with a screw. The unit is connected to a fiberglass tub all in one enclosure. What other brands are there?

Could be a Watco 695.
I went to ebay and found what looks like my parts.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=29507

Model 695 is not listed in the latest catalog online via Watco.

Last post.
I found my model.
It appears to be a Gerber waste valve.
Found a place online that sells polished brass strainer and faceplate.

Thanks for your help
