dryer vent with PVC?

Can I connect a typical dryer vent hose to a 4" piece of PVC? My vent runs along the ceiling of my basement and I want to clean it up by using PVC. That will look cleaner and won't sag in places.

Can I also do this with a bathroom vent?

I use pvc sch 40 piping for MY dryer venting. That's my house, no one elses (like customers) and it has been working for years.

It is a efficiency dryer and pipe never gets hot at all.

But when contracted to do the work, I use aluminimum or galvanized ductwork in 2' sections with the 90's.

Flexible ductwork unless ribbed aluminimum is the product,,,I never use.
