Question leaky faucet

We are trying to replace a handle adapter on a kitchen sink with two above the counter handle sets. We need to know what to do with the little spring and rubber donut that came in the kit. My son took it off and then left my daughter and I to deal with it and we know nothing. Please help.

leaky faucet

NT 3 something. don't really remember. The replacement piece that we bought from Lowe's is a Danco Hot/Cold 3S-8H/C Delta and it looks just like the piece we are replacing at least sorta. It has a lip piece on the top that the other one didn't but we thought we could still make it work.

This spring and rubber cup like thing goes under the stem inside the body. Did you pull out the stems?

I pulled out the stem and then put the spring up inside and then the little rubber gasket and then I get it to go back together. The stem piece won't go back thru the spring and the rubber piece.

The stem compresses down on the rubber seat and spring, inside the body of the faucet, make sure the spring and rubber seat is fully seated before you reinstall the stem.

Thumbs down

I got the little black rubber piece to go on and then went to push it together and the spring shot back out the top of it.

have you picked yourself back up yet from laughing so hard? we know we're doing something wrong we just don't know what it is. the black rubber piece is firmly seated now but now how do i get the spring over the top so that it doesn't go flying off again.

Is this what they look like?

You install the spring first then the rubber seat goes on top of it. Make sure the rubber seat seats firmly over the spring.

those are the exact pieces but i can't get the spring over the top of the stem. only the black piece. the spring opening is too small for the stem. the faucet handle picture isn't right though it's a 2 handle faucet with a curved neck faucet with a sprayer
do you maybe twist the spring on?

The picture does not matter, you first put in the spring then you put in the rubber seat, the rubber seat goes on top of the spring. spring then rubber seat

Not rubber seat then spring.
