Garbage Disposal
#1

My garbage disposal is not taking the water down. My sink on the other side drains fine, but the water on the side of the sink that has the disposal is just sworling! PLEASE HELP! I don't have a dishwasher and my dishes are starting to pile up! I've read some of the postings and the closest thing I could find was to take it apart. If that would be someone's advice, please tell me how or show me a site that could help me to do that.
I have, pushed the reset button, check with my hand and fingers for clogs and used a bottle of Draino Max....says it's safe for garbage disposals.
Thanks so anyone that responds!

NO, NO, NO!!! NOT Draino!!
That's not going to do you a bit of good. The outlet from the diposal is clogged. Get a big big pan or bowl, lay down under the sink and take the drains apart. Clear the outlet from the disposal, then put everything back together.
(Since you have already used the Draino, wear eye protction and rubber gloves!! That stuff will burn your skin, and you don't want to know what it can do to your EYES!!)

Lefty is right. ..... bad move on using the draino.
The drain line from the disposal and the baffled tee on the end outlet waste, is what is clogged.
Make sure you always run water with vegetation you run down the drain in your garbage disposal.

Running water is fine, but DON'T give the disposal a steady diet of stuff, either! Potato peels are tough for the disposal. Add some celery, some coffee grounds, some egg shells, some tomatoes -- whatever, to the mix. (And the more diversified, the better!!)

THANKS SO MUCH!!! My hubby did it and it worked like a charm! And boy.....that DRANO smelled horrible! I think I did it with potato peels, I'm superised that those don't get ground up! Ok, so I'm taking the advice of making sure I change stuff up that I put in there. I always run water, afraid I might burn it up if I didn't. Thanks for the quick responces!!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
